"I can't just leave them!" Jonah winced. "I..I can't, it wouldn't be right, you know, I got them into this...and..."
"They both have jobs. They love it here. They do. And if they found them a place in the town, it would work. They wouldn't need a car. Now would they?" She glared at him as if she had a point, and he should take her seriously.
Jonah shook his head. "This is just wrong. I can't go back there. I can't."
"You'd have stop dealing." She told him.
"That's not as easy as it sounds, Lex." His throat tightened. He might as well be a dead man walking, hadn't he?
"Stop being Mr. Bad guy. You tell the cops, everything. And it'll be over!" Lex threw her hands in the air. "Capiche!"
Jonah shook his head. He didn't see it quite that easy. "When have the cops ever listened to me?"
"Because, you won't try. That's why." She was in a huff.
"I dunno." And he didn't. There were so many things he wanted to do while he could. Travel. Figure out what he wanted to do with his life.
"Just come back with me. All right." She stared at him so seriously. "I'll help you, Jonah, I will. I will be there for you."
Jonah kept shaking his head. He hated the thought of going back.
